All About Left 4 Dead Characters On Gameservers

Since it’s release back in November 2008, Left 4 Dead has shown to be one of the biggest hits for Valve since CS Source hosting, eclipsing Team Fortress 2 servers in the popularity contests.

There are two main types of gameplay for Left 4 Dead game servers. One where you work with a team and other people online – campaign based. The most popular online mode is versus mode, where teams split into two teams of four- survivors and zombies. Survivors take on the roll of complete the L4D campaigns. On the other team, the Zombies controlled by human player’s mission is to hunt down the survivors using the Tank, Smoker, Hunter and Boomer.

Apart from the boss zombies, there are normal computer ran infected. These are more like the zombies from the film 28 days later than anything else, hunting in packs called hordes they will kill you in numbers. The infected can climb up buildings and ladders, break through doors and walls and are attracted to the slighted movement or sound.

Less common infected are scattered around maps to keep you on your toes.

The witch rarely appears one or two times on a map- and you’ll not come across her bad side as long as you don’t point the flash light at her or get too close. She can be disturbed by accident as she tends to lurk off the normal map route.

In versus mode there are a number of infected you can play as. The boomer likes to vomit special bile at the survivors which temporarily blinds you and attracts the common infected to your location! So keep your distance to avoid any unnecessary aggravation by his bile. A skilled marksman would pick him off from distance as he is slow and has low health, beware though, when he is killed his bile will splatter any nearby survivors.

In terms of how fast he’ll run at you, the hunter is quite like the fast zombie known from Half Life 2. Looking more like a chav than a zombie in terms of appearance! He can scale walls with ease with his excellent agility. Like a cat he can pounce and pin down survivors, clawing at their abdomen until either the survivor is dead or been knocked off by another survivor. He can be taken out easily on the other hand, as he too doesn’t have much health.

The sneaky smoker ambushes his victims with his long tongue. These work like the barnacles in half-life did and so will need the assistance of another survivor to free you. In addition, they choke their victim with a smoke, impairing their vision. A coughing noise is a tell tale sign of a smoker’s presence.

Before jumping online- Left 4 Dead 2 servers, check you can handle the tank. You need to play Left 4 Dead 2 to understand the immense power of the Tank!
