Since it’s release back in November 2008, Left 4 Dead has shown to be one of the biggest hits for Valve since CS Source hosting, eclipsing Team Fortress 2 servers in the popularity contests.

There are two main types of gameplay for Left 4 Dead game servers. One where you work with a team and other people online – campaign based. The most popular online mode is versus mode, where teams split into two teams of four- survivors and zombies. Survivors take on the roll of complete the L4D campaigns. On the other team, the Zombies controlled by human player’s mission is to hunt down the survivors using the Tank, Smoker, Hunter and Boomer.

Apart from the boss zombies, there are normal computer ran infected. These are more like the zombies from the film 28 days later than anything else, hunting in packs called hordes they will kill you in numbers. The infected can climb up buildings and ladders, break through doors and walls and are attracted to the slighted movement or sound.

Less common infected are scattered around maps to keep you on your toes.

The witch rarely appears one or two times on a map- and you’ll not come across her bad side as long as you don’t point the flash light at her or get too close. She can be disturbed by accident as she tends to lurk off the normal map route.

In versus mode there are a number of infected you can play as. The boomer likes to vomit special bile at the survivors which temporarily blinds you and attracts the common infected to your location! So keep your distance to avoid any unnecessary aggravation by his bile. A skilled marksman would pick him off from distance as he is slow and has low health, beware though, when he is killed his bile will splatter any nearby survivors.

In terms of how fast he’ll run at you, the hunter is quite like the fast zombie known from Half Life 2. Looking more like a chav than a zombie in terms of appearance! He can scale walls with ease with his excellent agility. Like a cat he can pounce and pin down survivors, clawing at their abdomen until either the survivor is dead or been knocked off by another survivor. He can be taken out easily on the other hand, as he too doesn’t have much health.

The sneaky smoker ambushes his victims with his long tongue. These work like the barnacles in half-life did and so will need the assistance of another survivor to free you. In addition, they choke their victim with a smoke, impairing their vision. A coughing noise is a tell tale sign of a smoker’s presence.

Before jumping online- Left 4 Dead 2 servers, check you can handle the tank. You need to play Left 4 Dead 2 to understand the immense power of the Tank!

Choosing server hosting can be technically difficult for both the expert and beginner alike and so should not be rushed as there is a risk and you may live to regret your decision. There is a number of steps that you need to plan and write down to start with.

What is the Server for? If your reading this then you should know, but not everyone does. Is it webhosting and e-commerce, game servers, download mirror, disaster recovery? You need to think about what operating system as well as what the software and services the server is to run. You have to ensure your specification allows for expansion but not somthing that is going to be too large for too long or is going to become dwarfed too quickly.

Specification

We know the software and operating system, you can talk about the specification needed. At this point ignore money as that is irrelevant until you come to actually choosing a host to go with, your specification will vary depending on usage. But your main things to look at are the CPU’s and the number of physical CPU’s and the cores on each CPU, many providers now offer dual or quad cores as standard. RAM is possibly more important than CPU’s but try not to scrimp as the end user will not appreciate a sluggish server when what they are doing is the most important thing in the world. Storage space is set by what software your using and how much you data you need to store as you don’t want to fill it too quickly, backups have to be taken depending on what your doing and where are you going to store these. RAID is also a great way to increase redundancy or create more usable space easily you have 0, 1, 10 or 5 as the common options.

Bandwidth

Once you have worked out the hardware for your hosting servers you then need to think about the bandwidth. Normally this is shown as gigabytes, and is normally hard to work out how much you need. When you find your host such as Melbourne, they will be able to help with this, and choosing the right dedicated server hosting. Next we have to find a good host with our specification in mind. The best thing I have been told was to get a computer magazine and remove all the glossy server host ads and then see what’s left as normally the big companies have low prices but there customer services can be questioned greatly. Using a quick search for some hosting forums and putting a number of posts up requesting for some product offers from companies and getting some reviews from other users to base you decision upon and will then normally get the best value for money.

Cheap dedicated hosting is provided by many different hosting services across the US and Canada together with Europe and Asia. Regardless of where your hosting firm is located from a technical perspective, aside from that fact which you may want to cope in your own currency. If you are being in the us or Canada, it is easy to work seamlessly in the identical language.

There are more issues, nonetheless that will influence which internet enterprise you may want to work with for dedicated hosting. Apart from language and currency, other factors should be support for your certain needs. A number of companies provide far fewer solutions to obtain guide when it’s needed. Deciding on a competent but cheap dedicated web host company need not be complicated as long as you are comfy with the operating system as well as the user interface.

International web hosting vendors located not in the America can supply a relatively inexpensive alternative, but, and there’s always a but, it could involve much more work on your side to get all of the features you need for your website. Additionally, the laws within every single country differ plus the effort and time required to clarify any misunderstanding might not be worth the time and effort. The amount of time which you spend could cost much more compared to if you were utilizing your local web hosting company.

Cheap dedicated hosting later grows into a question of data transfer, support, reliability and price. When a person have to sacrifice service for a only a few money, then while all is set and finished, it may not be the most wise move to proceed with a least expensive bid, you would be better off getting benefit of the promotional offers made by the web service provider.

The level of a cheap dedicated hosting provider is even more improved when you take in the point that there is commonly simply no need to add expensive improvements, all sorts of things is within your control.

Linux is a very popular platform. Not just because it is free but also because it is reliable and supports anything you can imagine. A popular setup is a Linux server without any graphical user interface. It can be used for web hosting, as a file server, as a database server, or for anything you need. Most people comfortable with Windows operating system are afraid to start thinking in a different way. In fact, installing and using Linux is pretty simple.

Quite a few people have a tendency to dabble in Linux. This means that from time to time, they might download a distribution, burn it to a Live CD, and try it out on their computer without actually installing it to their machine. If you are a Windows user who is doing this, you need to try Linux on a dedicated computer.

Once you decide to go for it you have already made the first step. The next step is to get some basic information about installing Linux. There are many Linux distributions. One that is very popular is Ubuntu. Simply Google for “ubuntu server” and learn about what do you need to install Linux. In general, things are pretty simple. You can install Linux on almost any machine. Your old computer that was replaced some time ago is a perfect choice for Linux. You only need some space on the hard drive, a CD or DVD drive, a network card and a lot of patience.

The first step is to make a bootable CD with the latest Ubuntu server image. Download the image file and burn it on a CD. Then you boot your computer with this CD and start installing Linux. It is a good idea to do this installation next to your main computer with internet accesses. This way you will be able to browse for any problem you may encounter. The most important thing you should know is that for every question you may have, there is an answer on some web page waiting for you. You only have to find it.

The installation process is pretty straight-forward. If you don’t understand what the installer is asking you then simply select the default option. Of course, you can also ask Google for it and then choose appropriate option. You should understand that the Linux principle is very different from the Windows one. But once you become familiar with Linux shell and basic commands it will be very easy to work with Linux and to install and configure new software.

Having a server is a great upgrade to your local area network. This server will be your reliable storage for large peer-to-peer files, web server for website development or a computer to play with. And remember, sooner or later you will encounter a problem.

Back as far as the 1950′s mainframes were being used- what would later be known as dedicated servers. These mainframes or servers were used mostly for data manipulation tasks. We only have to go as far back as the 1990′s when the same setups were being used. Dedicated servers became a known phrase with the advent of the web. And with that, dedicated web server hosting has became what we have right now we as we speak.

A dedicated server’s tasks hasn’t changed much since mainframes. Back in the nineties a server would primarily be used for files and email Then as business changed and the internet became more wide spread more and more web servers were put online to cope with this new demand. Don’t be surprised if the demand for dedicated server hosting changes again. Google we are sure will have a big impact on how server hosting is implemented.

Operating systems used on hosting servers have also changed and adapted with the times. However has always been a much more diverse area unlike with desktops. Windows is favoured less than Linux as Linux is considered right or wrongly to be more secure. While most linux operating systems come with no charge, some have a fee.

Server hardware and desktop hardware have been developed at the same rate. It was at one point all about multiple CPU’s. These days multiple CPU cores are supported on a single CPU. Just look at the introduction of dual and quad cores. On its way for server hosting, 6 and 8 core CPU’s.

Over time the demand for RAM has grown. Back in the day you could count the megabytes on your fingers. These days with many servers you will struggle to count the number of gigabytes of RAM it has on two hands! You will also find all sorts of different types of RAM for different server hosting requirements.

What is in an average server now is what will normal hardware of the desktop computer] in around two to three years’ time or quicker, with the average processing capacity doubling in 18 to 24 months.

What’s next for the dedicated web server? You can be absolute sure the hardware will be more powerful. Where server hardware goes depends really, on the next big phase. Look at how Facebook changed the way the internet worked. So server hosting depends on what big website comes next.

Having system that takes advantage of Linux managed hosting can be essential for any business, or even personal use. But what is this exactly? Many people do not know what Linux actually is.

Linux, as a definition, is a unix type operating system. This system allows users to have a personal computer interface for much less than the cost is for a regular unix type interface. This system is revolutionary in the field of technology. Many companies can save money by using this type of operating system.

The Linux system happens to be very complete for being so new and being sold at such a low price. The Linux system often offers a graphical user interface to their customers. This is usually an essential part of the entire system, and without it things would not function properly.

Unlike many other management systems, Linux is free to use for many people. This system is not a proprietary system that focuses on making profits. It is actually a very well known system that is open to the public for the most part all around the world.

Linux comes in many different types of platforms that adhere to the many different operating systems that are out there today. It is also being used for many different microprocessor testing, such as the great chip developers. Linux is a public system, however many companies choose to distribute it commercially for many different reasons.

Linux was developed to reclaim some of the dominance administered by other large desktop dominating companies. This operating system has nowhere near the number of users as the large established companies yet. As the years keep progressing, however, the number of Linux users has been growing dramatically.

There are many guides to help you with you Linux managed hosting system. This system is not new, however it is still being tested and developed. It is a good alternative to the systems that the large corporations offer.

Some of us like Windows but some of us like Linux. It’s easy to see why some of us like Windows – everyone has it. But why choose something that everyone has? Linux is a more basic operating system with additional security measures. When was the last time you heard about a virus only effecting Linux users? Since Linux is basic, it allows companies and users to scale their websites as they grow much easier. If you are a bank who needs a complicated and flashy website linux might be the answer for you because you will be allowed, easily, to program complex functions.
